Who cares about your kids' diet?
However hard you try to make sure your kids are eating a healthy, balanced diet, lack of time, pester power and faddy eating can all get in the way of your good intentions. But it's worth persevering as the food you introduce your child to now will influence their eating habits as they grow up and have a significant impact on their health in later life.
Government surveys have highlighted concerns that children and teenager's diets can be low in iron and calcium and very few are eating the recommended 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Experts are also worried that children aren't getting enough vitamin A and vitamin D in their diets, and it's now recommended that all children aged between 6 months and 5 years (who aren't having a fortified milk such as infant formula or a follow on milk as their main milk drink) take a daily nutritional supplement that contains these two vitamins.
