Frequently Asked Questions

What does NRV mean?

NRV stands for Nutrient Reference Value. This is the daily amount of a vitamin or mineral that the average person should aim to include in their diet.

The % NRV in a food supplement label tells you how much of the recommend allowance for a vitamin or mineral allowance you get from each dose of the supplement.

New regulations have updated the terminology used for this information on a product from RDA to NRV (Nutrient Reference Value) – this is why you may now see differences on some packaging.

Should I be concerned if Sanatogen products contain levels of vitamins & minerals above the NRV?

There is no need for concern: some of the vitamins in Sanatogen are at levels above the NRV (Nutrient Reference Value), but they are all below the Upper Safe Levels which were established in 2003 by an expert group who examined information available for dietary vitamins and minerals.

The NRV of vitamins is an EU-recommended amount to ensure people are not lacking important nutrition. Some supplements contain levels of vitamins and minerals above the NRV where this nutrient intake is considered safe.
